A long time ago, I worried. I worried and I worried and nothing got done because I worried. I froze myself in place and worried about what would happen when I took the necessary steps forward. Or I freaked myself out about reaching out and picking up the phone to ask for something I needed.
This weekend has shown me just how far away from that I now am.
On Saturday afternoon, I went out to my garage for a box of books I was giving to a new friend (1), and noticed that my car had a huge puddle of antifreeze underneath of it. I looked and thought I had figured out where it was coming from, so I called my stepdad to come take a look at it (2). We figured out the radiator reservoir had a leak and I made a call to see if the parts store had what I needed although we wouldn't be able to fix it until Sunday (3). Then I made a call to see if I could get a ride to the UU on Sunday (4), where I was helping facilitate the service (5), and singing in the choir (6).
On Sunday, we discovered that the part the store had wouldn't fit my car and so we arranged things so my stepdad could go find the part at another store on Monday (7). Then I called someone who rides my van to see if they could give me a ride to work on Monday (8).
This weekend I did eight things that required me to ask others for help and put myself forward. And, I didn't worry myself sick about it or procrastinate it like crazy. I could have said I couldn't make it to my obligations and just not asked for a ride.
The neatest thing is, I didn't even realize how easy I dealt with these things until it was all over.

Write: To Be Inspired
I'm a little bit in crafter/writer deadline hell right now. I need to be in overdrive and I'm falling behind. In fact, I felt so crappy this morning (sinus, stomach, headache oh my gosh) that I thought about posting a sick day. But as I signed into Blogger, I noticed a post from a great blogger, Mythical Magpie, about how a comment of mine sent her off on a great new adventure.
Once I got done blushing about being called a 'hero blogger,' I felt energized and ready to tackle all my deadlines. And ready to go find a pen pal.
It's amazing how just one little thing can inspire the synapses to spark and create new ideas, new energy, and get you back where you need to go. So today, go out and keep your ears and eyes open for that one little thing that can inspire you. Think up a history for your pen, or think about what your keyboard would really like to be doing. Where did that piece of trash come from? (Go pick it up and throw it away!) Use it in a story, a blog post, a conversation starter.
Go get it done.

Inspire: Clearing Out the To Do Pile
Oh no! It's an overflowing To Do pile! Quick, do something or it will drown us in unfinished ideas! Aaaaah!
I have a long list of things I want to do, crafts I want to make, stories I want to write, places I want to go. I make lists of these things... and then walk away. That's part of the reason why my word and focus for 2011 is Action.
I have been pretty blah last week and all I've managed to get done is Netflix. But I am making it a priority to get things done this week. Am I going to get my whole back log done? Oh hell no. But I can accomplish at least one thing. I'm hoping to set up a reasonable timeline to get something else done too. And I will try to follow at least one of the organizing strategies I have run across.
I feel so much better when things are done. But I get get sucked into the loop of feeling bad for not getting things done, so other things don't get done because I feel guilty, etc, spiral loop of doom. Enough of that. I just want to get it done.
I started this weekend and I am very proud of what I accomplished, even though it did involve a large amount of movie time. But I finished a project and set up another one. Let's hope I can keep this flow going all week and continue it down the road.
Do you ever get stuck by your own insecurities or guilt? I have the most horrible time with guilt.
