Writing: Demeter

Hah.  I figured out how to do jump breaks.  It's been a while, people.

Jump into Demeter's Mind...

Grr... Argh

I am having issues with my computer.  Rather than be frustrated by it shutting down in the middle of something, I'm going to write the piece at work tomorrow and post it then.  So I'll be a day late.

Inspire: Stephanie Corfee Print

I love this piece of art. It inspires me to go fill my color cartridge so I can print it out. And the website it's from is also amazing. Go check it out, it's Feed Your Soul: http://indiefixx.com/Feed_your_soul/downloads.html

It won't let me upload the actual pic... and I'm tired.  So here is the URL.

Update on the Schedule

I've realized that it would be easier to have a creative writing on Sunday rather than Thursday. That way I can work on a piece all weekend without work. I'll double post today as well so I don't get out of wack.

I've already updated the first Schedule post but I'll throw it up here as well.

Thursday: Inspiration
Sunday: Writing
Tuesday: Craft and Art

Writing: Short Fiction

I haven't written in forever, which is part of the reason I've dedicated one post a week to it. I forgot about the little OCD things that I have to do while writing. I think I've gotten rid of one, though.

I used to smoke. So when I sat down to write, I would chain smoke. After I stopped I had to have a sucker or a drink or something to constantly touch or chew on. Now I just have to have earbuds in.

I'll come up with more inventive names for the writing posts later on. So here we go, a short fiction piece based on the Muses...

Craft: Bookmarks and Holder

I love to read, and so does my son.  I don't like to dog ear pages but always end up either doing so or tearing off a random piece of paper.  So awhile ago, I decided to upcycle some bookmarks.  The container to keep them contained was upcycled as well out of a macaroni and cheese container.  See Exhibit A:

Tonight I got tired of seeing them all scattered and looking like crap on my table.  So I took the back of a legal pad, some paper, glue, and another macaroni and cheese container.  Now it looks like two books, and I think it looks spiffy.  Exhibit B:

Unfortunately, I am a pack rat and I hate throwing stuff away.  That especially goes for cardboard, etc.  That's why I like to upcycle and recycle stuff.  My favorite bookmark right now is from a Celestial Seasonings box.  It's wonderful, colorful, and fits the pages perfectly.  Almost all of those bookmarks in the container are upcycled.

Muse Inspiration

"[The Muses] are all of one mind, their hearts are set upon song and their spirit is free from care. He is happy whom the Muses love. For though a man has sorrow and grief in his soul, yet when the servant of the Muses sings, at once he forgets his dark thoughts and remembers not his troubles. Such is the holy gift of the Muses to men."
~Hesiod~

"He is happy whom the Muses love..."  Ever had one of those brilliant flashes of inspiration?  One great idea that suddenly pops in your head?  Or one that takes it's time to blossom, and each petal that opens adds to the whole?  That joy, that happiness is from the Muses.

The Muses were nine lovely Greek ladies who inspired the world.  They grace us with poetry, music, history, astronomy, comedy, tragedy, and dance.  I'm sure every writer, artist, or crafter has known their touch... and the lows that come when that touch is gone.  They can drive us to great heights with inspiration, and drive us mad with too much.

That is what this blog is named for.  I have been mused, inspired, driven with their touch to the point where I know I must do something but there are too many things to do.  I am bemused.  I am amused.  I am Mused.  This blog is to simplify and start a path to what I want to accomplish.

This is my inspiration for this week... To find joy in all the art I do.  Though I may have dark thoughts and troubles, I will continue with my craft.  I will find joy in what I create.

In the Beginning

In the beginning... I'm finally trying to get organized.  Rather than my randomly updated craft/life blog, this place will be about crafts, inspiration, writing, and getting motivation to accomplish all the stuff running around in my head.

Bare with me, I've been chosen by the lovely Muses to have filled my head with an overabundance of ideas.

Here is my tentative schedule of what will be posted and when:

Sunday:  Writing - a short story, poem, or essay.

Tuesday:  Crafts and Art - what is going on, mayhap influenced by the Inspiration of Sunday.

Thursday:  Inspirations - a quote, thoughtful question, picture, poem to inspire for the rest of the week.
